Amps, Jacuzzis + Music Movies!!

Dear Friends,

Last night was the first BATTLE OF THE BANDS at the MOCA and it was awesome!! Ballots were handed out to the entire audience and they voted THE DOWN HOME SOUTHERNAIRES as the winner!! Congrats to them, and don't miss the next two battles which are on Thursday, July 24th and Thursday, August 28th. Mark your calendars!! Btw, the Southernaires will be playing Saturday night at the Upper Eastside Garden if you missed 'em at the MOCA...

Tonight at FRIDAYS AT THE VAGABOND, we're excited to bring you a live performance by Miami garage/psych trio THE JACUZZI BOYS!! They're about to embark on a huge national tour opening up for King Khan & The Shrines so this is your last chance to see them before they leave for the summer!! Showtime is midnight outside. (Don't forget next week is our massive 4th of July party - "THE FOURTH OF JOSE" with JOSE EL REY!!)

We're also excited to announce a new service we're offering... We've heard from so many people who have busted record players or equipment, so effective immediately, you can drop off your broken gear at Sweat and the MIAMI AMP COMPANY will fix them and drop them back at the shop!! They can repair turntables, all electronic decks, instrument amplifiers, mixing boards, PA's and all electric instruments, and the work is guaranteed. Most repairs turnaround in 72 hours and a portion from all jobs supports Sweat!!

MUSIC MOVIE MONDAYS starts next week (the 30th) with a screening of Dandy Warhols vs. Brian Jonestown Massacre documentary DIG!! Seating is at 8pm and the film starts promptly at 8.30. We'll provide the popcorn and of course everyone is invited to stay and discuss the film afterward!!

Last but not least, there's a great new resource for all you party people on a budget... MYOPENBAR is a great site that lists bars and clubs that have free/cheap drinks all over the city (in NY, LA, etc.) and they've just launched in Miami!! Check it out and subscribe to their list to find out where to booze it up until our economy gets back into gear. You can start with $1 Stella and PBR 10 to 12 tonight (and every Friday) at The Vagabond!!

Have a great weekend!!

Cheers,
Lolo, Jsin + the Sweat crew

P.S. Issue No.5 of the awesome MAP Magazine is in at Sweat!! It's free so get one while they last...
