TONIGHT!! The Vagabond and Sweat present the Official CD Release Party Show for Miami dance-rockers THE JEANMARIE!! They've got a 7-piece band ready to make you get down in the Main Room at midnight, and you'll be able to pick up a copy of their brand new full-length album "Annie Jump Cannon"!! Congrats to another Miami act for putting out a record - we hope more of you do the same!!

Coming up next week: Monday night we've got an in-store featuring CLOCK HANDS STRANGLE from Melbourne, Tuesday brings another mystical PSYCHIC TUESDAY at Bella Rose, and Wednesday night we have the premiere of a local film called "VINYL LEGACY" at the store!! Then on Thursday night, (((SHAKE))) welcomes DROP THE LIME and DJ CRAZE at The Vagabond while ANR go UNDER COVER at The Florida Room!! So much goodness going on in South Florida these days including...

JUST ANNOUNCED - ANIMAL COLLECTIVE ARE PLAYING CULTURE ROOM ON TUESDAY, JUNE 9th!! That's my (Lolo's) birthday so you better believe we'll all be there... Tickets are on sale now for $20 via Ticketmaster and we highly recommend you jumping on it asap as this show WILL sell out.

Hey Willpower + Magen Melancholy!!

Dear Friends,

Boy are we busy around Sweat HQ - there are tons of great events and things to look forward to... especially Sweat's brand-new website!! We've outgrown our lovely little blogger page and in the next week or so will be launching a comprehensive, super-awesome site complete with better-than-ever event listings AND a submission page so YOU (yes, you!) can get your parties/shows/meetings/bike rallies/vegan potlucks/etc listed in the massive, renowned Sweat list that goes out to thousands of culture-savvy South Floridians every week. Needless to say, as soon as we go live we'll let you know!!

Well, last Friday at The Vagabond PANIC BOMBER rocked the place inside-out with his custom glow-suit and banging electronic beats (if you missed it he'll be at NIGHTDRIVE at News Lounge on Wednesday the 21st)!! Tonight, we're super excited to bring you a special live performance by HEY WILLPOWER!! This San Fran-based group have played with everyone from Annie to Le Tigre and will be bringing their r&b-influenced electrosynthpop to the Main Room tonight!! Also, in the earlier part of the evening we've got the official album release party for "Grand" - the new album by MATT & KIM!! Arrive early to hear the whole album and score tons of cool swag including posters, custom sharpies, and signed vinyl!!

Saturday night at Sweat's we've got a killer in-store featuring MAGEN MELANCHOLY, a solo set by Miami's own BUFFALO, and a special appearance by Sacramento's AGENT RIBBONS!! This girl-girl duo have toured the world and rock out like the White Stripes!! Magen is amazing too, we caught her at an open mic last year and she was mesmerizing... Starts at 9pm so come out and have some espresso before you hit the clubs!!

Next week: we'll be closed on Monday for MLK Day and then Tuesday...holy crap it's Obama's Inauguration!!!!!! Later that night we'll be celebrating at PSYCHIC TUESDAYS, the new Tuesday weekly party at Bella Rose!! Expect music you won't hear anywhere else (outside of your bedroom) spun by DJ HEALER, R3K+ and guests. Opening night has open bar 10-midnight so come check it out!!

Last but not least, Wednesday night is the DEATH PRINT SNEAK PREVIEW featuring over 45 minutes of edited scenes from this highly-anticipated local thriller!!

If you've been looking for some solid local electronic music, look no further because classical-pianist-turned-dancefloor-destroyer Panic Bomber is firing it up. Tomorrow during Gallery Walk, the "UNIVERSITY OF WYNWOOD" at the Brikolodge Co-Working Office is hosting a series of lectures entitled "In All Likelihood These Dreams Will Be Crushed: Ambitious Cultural Projects by Young Miamians" and the first speaker happens to be... me! I'll be talking about why I wanted to start Sweat and what it took to actually do it, to keep going through Wilma, and other related topics. There will be free cheap wine so we hope you can make it. Moving into next week, we've got another side-splitting CASA DE HA-HA on Tuesday night with some of Miami's funniest stand-up comics. Then on Friday we've got an insane national show at The Vagabond with HEY WILLPOWER (Tomlab Records) performing live!!
