SWEAT BOOKS Returns + Moving On...

Dear Friends,

Now that we once again have a spacious area to meet in (and are getting more and more settled), we are happy to announce...

a) The return of the SWEAT BOOKS BOOK CLUB!! Next week we'll announce our first selection, which will be available at the shop for everyone's convenience.

b) The creation of a whole handful of new clubs, meet-ups, sessions and interest(ing) nights at Sweat!! We're talking about science club, craft night, music discussion groups, music video night, foreign film, origami, politix, Guitar Hero, demo listening sessions... for people who would rather have some good old fashion human interaction instead of TV or computers all evening, and perhaps even learn something... If you are interested in helping out/presenting something, feel free to contact us.

All these events will be in the emails, posted on the blog, listed on the calendar on our myspace, and available soon in RSS feeds, iCal subscriptions, and any other geeky way we can figure out.

Other quickie points:
+ Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings last week were fantastic!
+ By popular demand, Sweat now stocks PROTECTIVE SLEEVES FOR YOUR LPs and 7"s, HARD-TO-FIND CARRYING CASES for your 7"s, and RECORD FRAMES!
+ Brand new Upper Eastside Green Market Saturday 9am-3pm at Legion Park (66th + Biscayne)
+ Japanese Snack Tasting Sunday 2-4pm at Tate's Comics (Ft. Lauderdale)
+ We have SO MUCH new music in that it would take us a ridiculous amount of time to type everything up.

Tonight at Churchill's is a really cool event called FLICKER - it's a showcase of local independent filmmakers and visual artists, with DJs and live performances by AFROBETA, KING BEE, TERESO and more!! Full info in the listings below - check it out and then come next door and see all our new swag...

Lastly, we'd like to inform you that as of this week, Sweat Records will no longer be hosting or promoting "Circa Saturdays", Saturday nights at Circa 28. They want to take Saturdays "in another direction" and we wish them the best of luck. Thanks to everyone who came out for almost a year - we brought some amazing shows (Velveteen Pink, The Black Kids, Muscles, loads of locals...) had awesome parties on Bastille Day and Cinco de Mayo, threw CD release parties, cupcake parties, and danced 'til 5am to sets by 40-something of the best DJs South Florida is lucky enough to have around. Thanks to everyone who wrote about the party, reposted our bulletins and spread the word of what we were doing to their friends - we never made one single flier.

Needless to say this isn't the end, just another new beginning (and we're used to those). Thanks everybody!!

Cheers,
Lolo, Jsin + the Sweat crew

Hey, have you guys ever thought about having a stack of voter registration cards at the register? Most of your customers are probably already registered, but it seems like a good fit since the store seems connected to so much progressive stuff taking place in Miami.
